Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this role is a key member of the Sr. Marketing Management team. Areas of strategic responsibility include development, implementation and measurement of email marketing initiatives to drive customer retention and meet customer revenue goals for multiple brands. Management responsibilities include supervision and support of a team dedicated to developing and managing the execution of individual campaigns. Our ideal candidate will have a strong e-commerce background, experience running sales-driven email campaigns, leading and managing a team, and collaborating with diverse cross-functional teams including Development, Analytics, Creative and outside vendors. This role requires a strong background in all digital marketing strategies including, but not limited to: Affiliate, Retargeting, SEM, SEO and Social Media. If you can juggle while you make gourmet meals in a toaster oven, you will be promptly followed and adored by 20+ marketing team members who will all say “wow, you’re AWESOME!!!”. If you can’t juggle while making gourmet toaster things, that’s okay too. Responsibilities:
Strategic areas of focus include:
Retention, monthly batch email plans including cadence, content, promotions, segmentation and testing
Lead collaborative planning sessions with cross-functional departments
Budgets, including external agency costs
Maintain industry expert status in Email Marketing trends and strategies
Collaborate with the creative department to conceptualize, design, and implement effective email templates and landing pages
Collaborate with members of other teams to optimize channels including affiliate, social media, SEM, SEO and our websites
Execution and Management areas of focus include:
Manage a team and support day-to-day campaign needs across strategy, creative, production, operations, and QA
Direct teams accountable for daily operations of the email program, including development and maintenance of email calendars
Oversee and assist with the flawless execution of batch, trigger and lifecycle email plans
Empower the team to drive continuous improvement in production processes
Ensure creative briefs and creative executions align with campaign strategies
Manage Email Service Provider relationship and contract agreements / negotiations
Ensure legal compliance (Can-SPAM, Canada restrictions) and keep abreast of market, consumer trends and competition
Analytics areas of focus include:
Analyzing key performance metrics, such as unsubscribes, spam reports, CTRs, conversion rates, engagement, and user retention, and draw insights to guide future planning.
Drive ad-hoc analyses as needed
Conceiving, executing, and assessing performance of A/B and multivariate tests
Accurately assess the success/financial impact of all email campaigns
BA in Marketing or similar area of study
7+ years of experience in online B2C marketing
5+ years of experience in email marketing in an ecommerce environment
4+ years in managing direct reports with experience in hiring and building a team
In-depth knowledge of customer acquisition, retention, up-sell and cross-sell strategies
Experience with triggered, transactional, and personalized email campaigns
Solid understanding of other interactive marketing channels and their marketing principals.
Advanced knowledge of Responsys, Exact Target, Marketo, SilverPop, or other enterprise-level marketing automation and email systems.
Experience in A/B testing, analyzing data, and reporting results
